| | nada | ] | i'm not sure i have much of a following, but i thought...what the hey...i'm up and once upon a time, before i became a myspace addict i used to come here to lay down my thoughts.
well it's been awhile...i'm halfway through my first year of teaching. 1st grade no less. and i'm still so dedicated to my role. i love it. yet i'm always venting like crazy about the downs of the job. i'm realizing i never celebrate the highs.
like "jerry"--my tourettes kid is so different than how he was in the first months of school. i got his personality down. i have the patience to deal with him like no one else in our school. i did that....i'm the one who has gotten him to be better. and he's kicking ass on his assessments. after you get over the barking and physical tics...it's cake. i feel the relationship and the way jerry has come around is hands down the biggest accomplishment of my year. he's definitely a hand full, but i can do this.
i'm just so in love with my job and i love my students. sure it's taken me some time to come back full circle and be like hey...tiara...remember you wake up and love your work. i don't know where all this negative energy came from but i'm hoping that i can kick it out the door and be much more positive.
because i'm gonna be here for awhile. i've taken it upon myself to put myself in this incredibly huge role that i must get over that many times, 9/10, i'll be hit with something abnormal and down right crazy, but i gotta roll with the punches and kick some ass. better yet change the thinking and motivate these youngsters to better their situations and make better choices to impact their lives. to motivate and encourage changes for their community. to get them thinking about a better tomorrow and empower them to see that their fate, their future is in their hands and they can do whatever they want with it. to make a choice to break down the barriers created by the stereotypes. to just do something positive with their lives. i have that job and it's so awesome. i just forgot for a split second and now i'm back. a better ms. mike will be reporting to school on monday. |
